Female, trans, and nonbinary identifying people are not just underrepresented on the stage. There are even greater gender disparities and expectations behind the stage. Technical theater (all non-acting aspects of theater) is heavily male-dominated. In order to demonstrate that others can design soundscapes, build sets, run lighting boards, and more, [wit] has spearheaded the [wit] Tech Initiative (WITTI).

 

 

WITTI will:

• Bring in speakers of marginalized genders with careers in technical theater to talk about their experiences

• Provide mentorship for anyone wanting to learn more about technical theater by creating pairs between those with experience and those without

• Encourage non-male leadership of technical aspects in our main stage productions
